Funding

In Surrey, parents and carers can access various funded early education options for children aged 2 to 4 years. These entitlements aim to support children's development and prepare them for school. Here's an overview of the available funding options, application processes, and parental responsibilities:​

Funded Early Education for Two-Year-Olds (FEET)

Eligible families can receive up to 15 hours of funded early education per week for 38 weeks a year. Eligibility is based on specific criteria, including receipt of certain benefits or meeting additional conditions. How to Apply:

Parental Responsibility: Parents must apply for funding and inform their chosen childcare provider. Providers will verify eligibility and claim the funding on your behalf. ​

Funded Early Education for Three and Four-Year-Olds (Universal Entitlement)

How to Apply:

  • Childcare Provider: Choose a registered provider who will claim the funding on your behalf.

  • Parent Declaration Form: Complete this form at the start of each funded period.

  • Proof of Identity: Provide your child's birth certificate or passport.

  • Additional Forms: If applicable, complete forms for Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) or Disability Access Fund (DAF). ​Surrey County Council+1Surrey County Council+1

Parental Responsibility: Parents must select a childcare provider and complete necessary forms. Providers will claim the funding and may request additional information for supplementary funding. ​Surrey County Council

 

Working Parent Entitlement (Additional 15 Hours)

Starting from September 2024, eligible working parents can access an additional 15 hours of funded early education per week, totaling 30 hours for many children aged 9 months and above. Parental Responsibility: Parents must apply for this entitlement and coordinate with their childcare provider to ensure the funding is applied correctly.​

Reapplication and Parental Responsibilities

  • Three and Four-Year-Old Funding: Complete a new Parent Declaration Form at the start of each funded period.Providers will verify eligibility and claim funding accordingly. ​Surrey County Council
